Today, October 19, MAPFRE is once again commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Day with various initiatives in which the company’s employees all over the world can participate during October, together with a global information and prevention campaign.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women. Early diagnosis is key to an improved prognosis and survival, and to this end regular mammograms and self-examination are essential. In Spain, MAPFRE supports, and is actively involved in, the work of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer [Spanish Association Against Cancer], providing information desks for the Association in 25 of the insurance company’s centers around the country. At these, company volunteers will be distributing pink ribbons and other tokens of the fight against breast cancer.
In addition, in a gesture of support to all those women affected by this disease, MAPFRE will illuminate some of its buildings and offices throughout Spain, and has tinted its corporate website and its social network profiles pink. In 2017, the company signed up to this cause in the majority of the countries where it has a presence, and achieved a high level of participation among its employees, who also raised awareness of this type of cancer through social networks.
Through its health insurance, MAPFRE offers specialist preventive medicine and rehabilitation services for the early diagnosis of breast conditions, along with its “In Good Company” service, a direct telephone helpline for cancer patients that helps in the coordination and management of all appointments and treatments required in such cases.
This is just one of the initiatives which the company is undertaking with the objective of raising awareness, and thereby improving the health and well-being of employees, family members and society in general, and which it is also promoting through its Healthy Company corporate model. Moreover, this is one of the many MAPFRE Corporate Volunteer Program activities which is being rolled out through Fundación MAPFRE; for more information, see our website www.voluntariosfundacionmapfre.org
